Guest bottles in the tap room

Recent visitors to our tap room will have seen that we have been working hard on some big changes to our tap room. We now have a tall double bottle fridge filled with guest bottles from great breweries around the world, including Burning Sky, Buxton, Cloudwater, Evil Twin, Mikkeller, Moor, and To Øl. All bottles are reasonably priced for drink-in and take-away.

We also have 10 taps and 2 hand pumps on the bar so plenty of room for guest draft too!

Giro D’Italia 2016 is here!

Here at Canopy Beer Co we have two major passions: brewing the best beer possible and cycling. We certainly don’t suggest you drink and cycle like back in the early 1900s when beer was seen as an important part of an athletes’ diet. We love that Julien Moineau in the 17th stage of the 1935 snuck past the pack (whilst they were tempted by beer giving spectators) and finished 15 minutes, 33 seconds before the peloton. Naturally he celebrated his win with a glass of beer! Anyway, what we enjoy best at Canopy Beer Co is sharing a beer with friends whilst watching the cycling.

The Giro D’Italia 2016 is the first of this year's grand tours, starting on Friday 6th May. The 99th edition of this 21 stage, Italian road race has been described by some as ‘well balanced’ others as ‘tough’, with a few calling it ‘tricky’. What is certain is that it will be exciting and we’re going to be hooked.

The race starts with three stages in Holland, a time trial in Apeldoorn followed by two road stages before moving to Catanzaro in Southern Italy and finishing in Torino. Stage 21 will finish with 8 laps of the final 7.5km circuit along the banks of the Po River then moving on to an always gripping 600m sprint finish.

Giro D’Italia quick stats:

·      3,383km

·      Starts in Holland, winds through the Dolomites and Alps finishes in Turin

·      21 Stages

·      7 mountain stages

·      3 time trials

·      7 sprint legs

Ones to watch:

Last year’s winner Alberto Contador has his eye on the Tour de France and is not defending his 2015 title so keep your eyes on these three:

·      Team Sky’s Mikel Landa,

·      Movistar’s Alejandro Valverde

·      Astana’s Vincenzo Nibali.
